What every popular, hip and happenin' couple does on a Friday night

What do all of the cool and popular couples do on a Friday night in the big city? You might think they hit all the hot spots, sporting the trendiest and most hip of attire, dining in high style and wowing everyone with their small talk.

Well, you thought wrong.

They knit, eat frozen pizza and watch celebrities attempt to ballroom dance.

Don't start feeling sorry for us. It's cold, nasty and rainy outside and we are so very tuckered* after a long, stressful week. I am actually glad to be tucked away inside where it's warm, I can wear my glasses, curse as I mess up my knitting and listen as Cynical complains about the lack of quality television viewing.

I am proud to announce that yes, it's true, I have completed one of Knitty's Voodoo Wrist Warmers. It seems so very lonely, so I must make a companion for it. I cast on for the second and made some headway on it, but not as much as I had wished. I am also not happy with the last bound off stitch on the first one. I am not sure if there is anything I can do about it, so I am either going to have to get over it or be in denial. I am more accomplished at the latter, so let's go with that one.

I am also going to tackle seaming "Jen's Poncho" from Sally Melville's "Book 1: The Knit Stitch." For you accomplished knitters this is surely not a task to be afraid of. However, after already losing one battle, I am a little less willing to charge the hill again. I may need reinforcements. Wish me luck. I gotta finish that poncho.

*I am in Kentucky and "tuckered" is a perfectly acceptable term.

Well, if it makes you feel better, single mid-twenties me, who for some reason chose graduate school over something (anything better), stays home Friday nights to work on her thesis proposal. So, frozen pizza and dancing celebrities sounds like fabulous-ness.

**Ok, so not all Friday nights. But this one. And it's cold and nasty here, too. And I'll be working/writing all weekend.

I can't begin to count the number of times I've said, "I'm plumb tuckered out." You, however, were tuckered IN! That's a whole lot better!
