On Sunday, Cynical and I got a head start on Valentine's Day by going to an inn about 20 miles away for lunch. It is located in a small, quiet town. It's the kind of town that still observes Sunday to the fullest and rolls up the streets at 6 p.m. each day.
The area had gotten more snow than us Kentuckians and the trees were outlined with the white stuff. The drive was peaceful and the air chilly.
We arrived in time to be ahead of the crowd and secure a table in the corner. Good conversation, tasty food and a red carnation wrapped up the outing. We ventured around the area a bit and I persuaded Cynical to brave the cold and let me shoot a few photos.
On the way home I spied the sign above and just had to snap a shot or two.
After we got back to our "neck of the woods", I once again used my persuasive abilities and talked my beloved into stopping at the newly opened Starbucks. Two lattes later (one Chai and one vanilla) and we headed home.
It was our own little start to Valentine's Day. Tomorrow, however, is the real deal. Wonder if Cupid will be good to both of us and bestow upon us another romantic evening. Cynical has already received his heartfelt goodies: a briefcase/satchel to carry important documents, Star Trek books, notebooks and stuff to and from work and class. Let's wait and see what surprises come my way.
