Thus far we have had a beautiful weekend. Taking advantage of the sunshine, we worked most of the morning in the yard. I am not a fan of yard work, as I am overwhelmed by our yard and all that needs to be done. I don't know where to start.
As we walked around our own little green space, we made big plans, but I am certain that not all gardening dreams come true around Chez Ragged. I am as accomplished at gardening as I am at baking. . . so you see the problem lies therein.
However, I did manage to accomplish a few things. I cleaned our lawn chairs prepping them for afternoons of leisure. During the spring and summer, I often rush home from work, change and head outside with my basket in hand. In that basket is my journal, whatever book I am reading and this year I suspect a knitting project. So, the cleaning of the chairs is a bit of a ritual for me signifying sunny afternoons reading and relaxing. The more undesirable task of cleaning the grill fell to me and after much scraping, we officially christened the grill with porkchops and asparagus for dinner. I even baked cupcakes. Call me Mrs. Domestic, baking cupcakes for my beloved and icing them with the most chocolately of sugar-laden creamy stuff.
I wrapped up my evening by finishing what I thought was going to be a kitty bed. However, even though I followed the directions to the letter, adding a few rows in hopes that it would then fit our chubby cats. I felted it once last night and upon realizing that none of our cats would ever be able to cram their ample bodies into it, I felted it again and created what we are calling a "bowl". When life hands you lemons. . .
The cupcake photos are self-explanatory, just a shot of them baking and then iced with my expert decorating skills. The photo at top is of a daffodil in our backyard. Not only is it fitting for the current Project Spectrum theme, but it also is just a reminder that spring is here.
