Clean sweeping

Every day at Chez Ragged, you can gaze upon the same site: me with broom in hand virgorously attempting to get ahead of the cat hair and litter that invariably dots the landscape of our floors.

I am a woman obsessed, but I am also a woman on a mission. Knowing that I would absolutely fall over dead if a guest realized just for a moment that our floors were covered in kitty potty material and that blur moving across the floor is a giant hairball, I fight the daily losing battle.

Try as I might, our brood continues to shed, even when instructed not to and I seriously think that they grip litter in their tiny paws on purpose only to scatter it everywhere. The purring isn't because they love me, it's because they are celebrating a mission accomplished.

Today, in further efforts to continue my quest, I am going to venture out and purchase a portable rechargeable broom-esque type of appliance. I am convinced that this innovation will forever change my life, bring me the happiness I have always desired and cause guests to exclaim, "Never have I seen such floors. Do you really have five cats. Unimagineable!"

I am certain that this line of thinking will end in disappointment. I had the same hopes centered around the pair of jeans I just bought. I felt certain that the moment I donned them, I would instantly become skinny, attractive and witty. It didn't happen. No matter what mirror I used. No matter which catalog stance I used. It ended in a pair of jeans and the same body I see every day packed into them.

However, I have renewed faith in this broom-type thing that will now join our household. Keep your fingers crossed, offer sacrifices to the lint and suction gods. Also pray that it lives up to its reputation and maybe that if I wear those jeans I will be the cutest broom toting mama at Wal-Mart.

Recently Phinner and I planned a little craft barter of sorts. She made me the cutest photo cards of all sizes in exchange for a black Kittyville hat. I just got a note from her including a photo of her sporting the hat and I am so very proud. I am in love with my stationery and apparently the hat fits too. Above is a snapshot of the stash she sent. Thanks Phin!

I ran the vacuum last week. Lets just say that I let the flor go a bit. Anyway it looked like I vacuumed up one of the cats. Keep up the fight.

Ah, the barter system at its best, and you and Phin each ended up with something beautiful! Love the idea.

ah...the never ending quest to rid our homes of cat hair and tracked litter.
Impossible, I tell you. I wish you success but fear you're fighting a losing battle.

Love the Kittyville hat!! Phin showed it to me a few weeks ago, it's soo cool! And I just might break out some needles to make one of those cool washcloths that you're famous for...you may have inspired my knitting mojo. :)
