I have fallen and I can't get up

Just in case you were wondering, there has been knitting going on, just not anything that I am proud enough to share here. However, if you are so inclined, there are a few shots of a hat and dishcloths posted in the Finished Projects section at right.

I had managed to not fall prey to an infliction that I have noticed in other knitters. I've seen it discussed and justified on many other knit-oriented blogs. I have watched as other flailed and fought the disease. I have sadly realized many lose the battle and are forced to come to grips with this. . . this. . . problem.

I thought that I somehow was immune to it. I thought maybe I wasn't given to the propensity. I thought I was stronger. I was, once again, horribly mistaken.

It's time to come clean. It's time to make an open admission in hopes for a cure or at least some advice on how to live and function with this affliction.

I, Ragged Around The Edges, have started multiple projects and haven't completed any of them. Yes, I am now hauling around at least three projects that have indeed been cast-on, but few are getting finished. Maybe it's the allure of using a new yarn. Maybe the patterns call to me. Maybe my eyes are too big for my needles.

So, for whatever reason, I have several projects underway. In my defense, one of them was nearly completed over the weekend, but I had to rip it out and start anew, unhappy with my decreasing. It's not an excuse, just a reason.

Here's the proof. The photo atop is the start of the Odessa Hat in Debbie Bliss Merino in a beautiful shade of grayish blue. In the middle you can spy a baby blanket in a pale mint green Fiddle De Dee; below is a sock, heel turned, gusset decreases complete, awaiting a few more rows for the foot and a toe.
