Peaceful appreciation

Seems lately I have found myself with a commitment for nearly every night of the week. Most are fun and I really can't complain. It's nice to be busy and social.

However, last night I didn't have a single item on my calendar. I was secretly glad as I drove directly home without an agenda before me.

The weekend was busy and I had left several things undone at Chez Ragged, therefore, the first thing I wanted to accomplish was catching up a bit and that I did. House dusted, floors swept, clothes put away and then the night was all mine.

Last summer my favorite past time was sitting in the back yard. I'd pull out a lawn chair, lug my basket of books and activities outside and I'd read and write until the sun went down. A rainy spring, noisy neighbors and now the oppressive heat have thwarted my plans this year.

So, last night I changed into the coolest (not the hippest, but litterally the coolest) clothes I own and settled into my chair and knitted on some rather mindless projects including the Clapotis (not a disease, but a wide scarf/shawl type of thing on Knitty.com) and the leg portion of my second Candy Corn sock. It was so very quiet. It was so very peaceful and it made me wish that bedtime was a few more hours away.

There are times when all seems right with the world, you are at peace, your mind is clear and you are able to enjoy and daydream and relax. I am grateful for those times.
