Yesterday was packed full of many of the things that make summer special. I started the day by joining my mom at the Farmer's Market, where the produce was particularly beautiful and bountiful due to a pattern of rain and sunshine over the past two weeks.
I browsed and shot photographs. I contemplated what we needed. I spent some time talking to a Meninite girl named Rhoda who was playing nearby her family's booth. They sold fresh, pasture-fed meats, free range eggs and Rhoda's wares. Rhoda crocheted colorful doilies and other items. She was very proud of her color choices and the fact that her brother has a pony named Pretzel.
After I selected the smallest, sweetest strawberries, so sweet, in fact, that you could smell their lusciousness, I picked up some green beans, cucumbers new potatoes, and canned beets for Cynical. Tonight we will prepare our bounty, adding fresh squash provided by Cynical's parents.
After the Farmer's Market, we headed to a daylilly sale. I didn't end up digging up any of my own, but I did take nearly 100 photographs of the beautiful botanical garden.
It was wonderful, at both locations, to be in the sun, amongst my community and able to enjoy nature's creations.
Cynical and I wrapped up the day by grabbing some Mexican food and making a grocery run. One chore I do not enjoy is cleaning my car. As the daylight started to fade and the temperatures were cooler, I vacuumed out the car, wiped it down and shined up the inside. Another task of my never-ending "to do" list. Now if only I could convince myself to clean out that garage.
Last night I wrapped up another Spiral Rib Bag from the One Skein project book and watched some television. Must say that I love Kevin Spacey and watching him on Saturday Night Live was almost more than I could stand.
Today it's quiet in the house as I am literally the only one awake. It's probably my favorite part of the weekend. Our living room is quiet with light streaming in, bringing the morning with it. I am tempted to treat myself to some strawberries and whipped cream. Or maybe I will take a shower and slip out for a walk. Or maybe I will sit right here and enjoy the silence and sun streaked floor, daydreaming.
Beautiful "wildflowers" at the botanical garden.

Your Saturday was a lot like mine! Only I didn't think of the Farmer's Market.
I had the funniest optical illusion when I opened your blog. The picture of the socks was only half viewable, the other half being below the line of the window. Well, I recognized your project, but . . . it looked like the most ill-formed socks I've ever seen!! Roll the screen so that you see just from the instep upward. Now remove logic (heaven forbid) from your sight, and the toes look like your feet, and the instep looks like legs . . . Oh, OK, well, it did to me for a minute. sighhh. Sorry 'bout that. I'll be normal again in a little bit.
The socks are beautiful, honest!
I love your pictures of flowers. They are exquisite! Have a good week, and I prolmise to not mis-see your pictures again. (Or at least I won't tell!)
