Fanciness all around

Our weekend was filled with slippers, fancy dresses, glowing couples and fairytale endings.

Saturday afternoon we went to a wedding reception and managed to avoid the inevitable question of, "When are you guys getting married?" The beautiful bride made her way around the room, beaming with joy and excitement. I watched as she glided around the room, floating on hope and happiness. There is something about a bride that makes you smile, makes you dream for her and makes you want her to have that feeling forever.

Afterward we had a nice, quiet dinner out and then went to see the musical version of "Cinderella", another wedding of sorts.

I don't know what it is about magic slippers, handsome Prince Charmings and beautiful ball gowns, but they melt me every time. I am not a fan of gender roles and didn't find myself playing princess as much as investigative writer as a kid, but it's still so fun to see all of the fanciness and romance surrounding such a thing. Lots of little girls were there in their princess-appropriate attire and it was so neat to hear them ooooh and aaaaaah when the slipper fit.

On Sunday I completed my very own slippers. They are not constructed glass, they will fit perfectly and I am certain not to lose them when running unexpectedly from the ballroom. Mine are green and drying as I type. More on my slippers later. . .

Weddings do bring out the fantasy, don't they. My daughter was such a beautiful bride, I mean, it made your heart ache for the beauty. Unfortunately, the marriage lasted just a few months. Second time, no wedding, just the county courthouse with no fanfare or regalia. She's still happy and in love 11 years later! Obviously it is only fantasy that we see and the real story is what we see later on. Maybe we save the gorgeous wedding for the 10th anniversary, eh?
