Monday snuck up on me

I didn't want to get up this morning. I was in complete denial that today was Monday and yes, another work week was beginning.

This girl depends on a regular income and I do love those benefits such as health insurance and my unused Y membership, so I decided to drag myself out of bed and into the shower. The alternative wouldn't fund my yarn habit or clean my teeth every six months.

As I was taking a shower and pondering what to wear, I stopped to think about that weekly conversation we have, each and every Monday morning, where we list what did over the weekend.

So, I started thinking about what I'd say. And then it struck me, what had I done with my weekend?

-Shopped and shopped and shopped, but have nothing of substance to show for it.

-Ate out three times, and certainly had the hips to show for that.

-Watched "Step Mom" for about the 39th time and cried when she gave them the quilt and cape covered in family photographs.

-Watched and cried through the final episode of "Mad About You" when she said that if he ever left her, she'd find him, because he'd be wrong to leave her.

-Knitted two socks that were different sizes and vowed never to show them to anyone remotely acquainted with the art of knitting.

-Took a 30-minute shower so warm that I was red and moisturized from head to toe when I stepped out of it.

-Discovered that my hair was long enough to braid in a very Caroline Ingalls sort of way.

-Fought the cat hair battle and lost yet again.

-Admired, peeled apart and admired again my beautiful Schaefer yarn.

-Ate yogurt covered cherries until I thought I might need to have my stomach pumped.

-Finally had an "a-ha" moment concerning short row sock heels.

-Went outside to work in the yard and came back with no less than 8 mosquito bites.

-Spent most of the evening trying not to think about continual itchiness of mosquito bites.

I think instead, I will simply say, "Just kinda hung out" and chomp my gum.

Izzie was not pleased to be photographed Sunday morning, but I couldn't resist capturing that look that says, "I really don't like you. I tolerate you, but I don't like you."

She may have an attitude, but Izzy is beautiful! Wish I'd had your weekend, and you had . . . no, I don't wish that on anyone. I just wish I'd shared your weekend!

Caroline Ingalls. Haven't thot about that show in a while.
Izzy cracks me up! That's classic cattitude.
