Something so strong could carry us away

Ever have someone do something so nice for you that you are simply speechless. You are too touched to talk. Too overwhelmed to find the words to express your joy. You find yourself opening your mouth in an attempt to express your gratitude, but all that comes out is a tiny gasp, as you bring your hand to your heart.

That's exactly how I felt after receiving the beautiful quilt pictured above. It was sewn for me by Rudy and Pilot's mother (Cynical's aunt). She is truly one of those people that lights up a room, spreading joy in her wake. As if that wasn't enough of a gift, she chose to create this incredible quilt just for me.

It's as if she gave me a piece of her and I can't imagine a better gift. I have always felt that giving something you made yourself is perhaps the most generous of gestures. She is the most generous of people. It's much more than a quilt to me.

I have a few of these also, and I LOVE THEM ALL! She has made so many of these for me and with me. She has helped me make baby ones in just a day so that I would have the perfect gift for a friend. Nene is the bomb!

I love quilts!

I love quilts, too.

I still have the quilt my grandma made for me as a child. I used it for years, and it's now retired to the cedar chest for safekeeping.
After getting married, I inherited a few more family quilts. They're all kind of battered and worn, but there's still lots of love left in them.
