A little bit of this and a little bit of that

Change is good, right? Well, not when it comes to Thanksgiving at my folks house.

For years I brought my very own handcrafted pecan pies. I began wondering if they had gotten a little, pardon the pun, stale. In an effort to shake things up a bit, last year I purchased a delightful chocolate chip pumpkin loaf and presented it as I walked through the door of my folks' house. Everyone smiled kindly and several pieces were indeed eaten. However, it was made clear that, in no uncertain terms, was I to bring anything other than pecan pie. Anything else would be blasphemy or worse, unAmerican.

I listened to their request. I heard their request. I heeded their warning. And now I present to you not one, but two, pecan pies. One for dinner at 11 a.m. at Cynical's folks; the other for a feast at my folks at 1:30 p.m. (Don't call us after 4 p.m., we'll be comatose from all of the potatoes and sugary pies.)

I tried a new recipe this year directly from Dear Abby. How could I go wrong?

Aren't the family rules simple enough? Sheesh!

Those pies look sinful!!! Yum, my favorite! Save me a piece, OK? ;-)

I love pie like a fat kid loves cake. Send me a piece in the mail. I bet it tastes as good as it looks.

As if I didn't already eat enough pie this weekend. My MIL make 11 pies. All were eaten. There were only 23 of us. Granted, they were more coveted for leftovers than the turkey, but none went to waste (all went to waist).

I love pie.
