It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

I haven't had much of the Christmas spirit and I keep telling myself that it's just too early for the giddiness to hit. However, I have to admit that putting up our Christmas tree has done wonders to jump start our festivities.

Yesterday, following tradition, my dad and I, now joined by Cynical, went on a little bit of a hunt. . . we were hunting for the perfect tree. And I think we were successful, at least in my mind. I enjoy decorating the tree. It's a bit of a chore, getting a real tree and all, but whenever I walk in the house and catch that wonderful, wonderful fresh smell, well it's all worth it. I am proud of our tree. It changes somewhat each year and I am amazed at how intrigued I am by it, as if I have never seen the ornaments before.

While I wrapped lights, changed fuses and unwrapped ornaments, Cynical and his dad braved the cold to fix some shingles torn from the roof of the garage during a recent wind storm; along with some other pesky items on our ever-growing "to do" list.

After a little bit of a break, we donned our finest attire, and went to Cynical's work party. After a big dinner, some prize winning and a litttle visiting, we left with a center piece bound for my mom's table, a deck of cards and tired feet.

Today is the annual performance of "The Messiah" at a beautiful local church. My mom and I have made a habit of going each year. This time I am wondering if I should bring a little knitting along. . . Cynical thinks not.

In other big news: I finished Clapotis. And the angels sang "Hallelujah". Details and photos to follow, but suffice to say I am pleased, but glad this project is over. I hadn't had a lot of time to dedicate to it, so it seemed to drag on forever.

I love the top pic of the lights, just some real smooth lines. It sounds like you are in th spirit now, too, and a beautiful tree.

My cousin in Wyoming said that it has been so cold that they haven't been able to put lights outside yet. Her husband got them out and spread them around the inisde to untangle and test them, and they've stayed there for over a week. He didn't think putting up lights with the highs in the teens would be fun. Go figure! So I'm guessing that the whole inside of their house looks like your picture above! Imagine!

I love the picture. Very warm.

Love the tree! We went small this year, but it's so unsatisfying I may go drag the bigger one up the steps...especially now that I've seen yours.

I miss the smell of a real tree, but with the kids and the fact that Andrew (our weiner dog) once had a pretty bad allergic reaction to one, we've had to opt for a pretty fake.

Enjoy "The Messiah" for me. I was in a community choir that put it on once. I adore it.
