Presenting. . . Clapotis

Clapotis
Pattern from: Knitty
Yarn: Andes 100 percent Wool in Color 03
Needles: Size 8, Bamboo Circular
Completed: December 2, 2006
Blocked: December 2, 2006

Notes: This project took forever, not particularly because it was difficult, but it seems I didn't have the time to dedicate to it. I did have one minor stitch dropping fiasco, but it was a great learning opportunity as I repaired the work and the twisted stitches. This is my first attempt at blocking and I am not certain it was successful, but it was, once again, a knowledge-building experience. One end is nice and square, the other is a bit off kilter, more than a bit, but I am not sure how to rectify it.

I suspect my gauge is off, as it seems very long and wide after blocking, but in all honesty, I am not even going to check it, as I love the bulk of this item, it will wrap wonderfully and keep me very, very warm.

Closeup of a few stitches, pre-blocking; photo doesn't depict the colors accurately.

As for the yarn, I love the blues, but wonder if I should have gone with something with a broader range of colors. However, I am pleased with the shading, there was some pooling, but I kinda dig that too. I think it did so in an interesting and patternless way. The yarn wasn't splitty or difficult to work with, so no complaints here. I christened my Clapotis by wearing it to a performance of Handel's "Messiah" earlier this month. No rave reviews, but I sported it proudly.
