I coulda been out dancing. I coulda been out on the town. I coulda donned my finest and put all the girls to shame. Instead, I finished knitting the second of my Chocolate Covered Cherry Socks.
I love, love, love this yarn. So much that I actually dreamed about it. Seriously, I actually dreamed about a particular yarn. It was a purchase from the Stitches Midwest Conference in Chicago in August. Purchased by a fellow knitter, I had yarn envy and had to slip back down to the conference floor and buy some of my own. I am sooooo glad I did.
I had held onto this yarn, unsure just what type of sock I wanted to make. At first I feared I had chosen the wrong pattern for it, but as it went along and as I tried them on, I was ever so pleased. I only wish I could do the colors justice in photography. As soon as the sun popped out today I tried to snap some good shots, but really am not pleased with the saturation of color in any of them. For now, just humor me.

I did have one small glitch in picking up stitches along one of the heels, but overall, it went smoothly. The pattern was very, very easy to memorize. I did an alternative toe and kinda liked it for a change.
As the yarn was a little heavier than the Opal called for in the pattern, I went for a smaller needle, but not quite as small as what I generally use in socks. I wanted the stiches to be prominent to show the color.
Best of all. . . they feel amazing on my feet.
Oh, and the first finished object of 2007? A hat for my beloved. Details at right. I tried a new yarn, Paton's Rumors and it is so very soft. Pardon the off-center, artsy shot. I just liked the composition of the shot.
