For the last two days, we have pretended that the rest of the world didn't exist. Sometimes you need to hold up inside with your beloved, watch "Monk" marathons, make warm soup and watch the rain. Sometimes that's just what you need.
On Friday, however, we did mingle and mix with the rest of the world, as we went out for dinner with my folks before heading to see the play "'Night Mother". The play focusses on the suicide of a young woman and the last night she spends with her mother. Moving, raw and hard to watch. We left the theater in silence, unable to vocalize what we were thinking.
On Saturday I busied myself around the house and before I knew it, I had accomplished much, but my day had slipped away. We headed out for a little Mexican food, a trip to the library and a Target run. At home last night we watched television (so much for resolutions), swept water in our basement.
I finished the Sweetheart Hat (details here) and went to bed much too late. I have no idea why I wanted to make this hat. It's not necessarily something that I'd choose to wear, but it intrigued me and I wanted to make it, hearts and all.
Today I cooked. Yes, I actually took ingredients, combined them, applied heat and produced something edible. Using a tried and true recipe given to us by a friend, we ended up with what we are calling Taco Soup. And you thought I'd never use the crockpot and apron I got for Christmas.
It's still wet outside, and periodically the rain starts up again. I can hear the pump in our basement empty, but I am pretending I can't hear it interupting the "Monk" marathon on television.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Taco Soup. MMMMmm MMMMmmm GOOD! Have a nice rest of the weekend!
I have a recipe for Taco Stew, which I assume is about the same. Mmmm, wonderful in chilly weather. About pretending to not hear the basement pump . . . look at it this way: when it runs, you know you're not filling up. That's a good thing!
Please Post Recipe!!! And I love that sweet little hat! It's too cute! Please wear it!
I second the "Please Post Recipe!!!" Pretty please with taco sauce on it.
