I thought it looked like some sort of clothes line. We had one that looked kind of like that (before it was put up) when I was a kid. A knitting toy is way more fun.

I had no idea what that was. The first thought I had was of Dad trying to fix the tv antenna when I was a kid.
You MUST have a lot of yarn...very neat yarn.
