There is a lot of talk about how lame Valentine's Day is and you know, I don't ascribe to that sort of thinking. I love all holidays. Any planned reason to celebrate is OK by me. I'll take any chance I can get.
I'm not saying we painted the house red, tossed rose petals all over the floor or ate conversation hearts until we were sick, but we did commemorate the day in our own way.
As you may know, Cynical works most evenings, much to my dismay. And you may also know that we eat out a lot. So, instead of making a reservation, donning our finest and heading out to a restaurant, we did something completely out of the ordinary: we made a big meal together, sat down at the table together and ate together. (All the while, I played our Valentine's CD.) It was so very, very nice. And there was a little dancing, there were some cards exchanged and we even squeezed in a episode of "The Closer" for good measure.
I luv love.
Meanwhile, we all await the announcement of the winner in the first annual Nudge-Nudge "My Punny Valentine" contest.

I'm jealous of the dancing.
For serious: I'm listening to your cd right now! Jackson is playing at this very second! I so wanna get this cd and the new Dixie Chicks.
I love to celebrate love. Love is good. Valentine's is a good reason to put it back into focus, but all the marketing the surrounds it is way over the top.
I'm jealous of the dancing, too. BTW, Jealousy just started playing. :)
Ah, them's da best kinda celebration ... low key and loving. Good you you!
My daughter and her fiance' celebrated much the same as you. They stayed in and cooked together. I was so happy because...she doesn't cook...he doesn't either. So they're learning together.
