An Interview

I recently spied an Interview Challenge on Madretz's blog and found it kinda cool. So, I decided to play along. If you are game and want me to interview you via five questions, let me know. Might give you some blog material. It's a great chance for those of us stopping by to get to know you better.

Madretz came up with some tough questions as shown below, along with my lame answers. Much appreciation, Madretz, for letting me play along.

1) Where would you go on vacation if money and time are no object?
If money and TIME were no object, I'd have to say Greece. I am intrigued by the architecture, the blue water, the culture.

2) What are the lyrics to one of your favorite songs?
This one was tough. I was torn between "When It Don't Come Easy" by Patty Griffin and this song, but since this has long been my favorite, I am including it:

Tiny Dancer
Music by Elton John
Lyrics by Bernie Taupin

Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand

Jesus freaks out in the street
Handing tickets out for God
Turning back she just laughs
The boulevard is not that bad

Piano man he makes his stand
In the auditorium
Looking on she sings the songs
The words she knows, the tune she hums

But oh how it feels so real
Lying here with no one near
Only you and you can't hear me
When I say softly, slowly

Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
you had a busy day today

Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand

3) What do you love and dislike the most about the part of the country you live in?
What I love most about the South and Kentucky is the changing of the seasons and the pace at which things happen: slow and steady. It's evident in our speech, our cooking, our way of life.

What I dislike the most is the Bible Belt stranglehold and the adverse reactions to diversity. I am both a spiritual person and a Christian, but I am a liberal; I embrace diversity in lifestyle, thought, background and outlook; and there just isn't a lot of room for that line of thought in this part of the country.

4) What is your favorite meal/food?
As for a meal, I'd have to say pizza or Mexican food. Bring on the cheese, sour cream, tomatoes and salsa. As for food, it's clearly, plainly and forever: ice cream.

5) What other art/crafts/hobbies have you been as passionate about as you are now with knitting?
This was a tough one as well. I don't know that I have ever been this passionate about any hobby outside of knitting. I think that perhaps it has been rivalled by reading and journaling/letterwriting.

Thanks so much for playing! It's a great way to get to know each other a little better. Not surprisingly, we have the same favorite foods. And one of my most memorable concerts was Elton John. It was only a couple of years ago, but I've sang his songs at the top of my voice for as long as I can remember.

I must make one small comment. I love the episode of Friends where Phoebe said... "You know that Tony Danza song." and the group is like what Tony Danza song... She breaks into song and sings "Hold me closer Tony Danza..." to the Tiny Dancer tune. I love that song and always think of that episode, but I am a FRIENDS nut.

:)

Oh, and I love Mexican. UUMmmmm.
