Our cats, like most people, need their own space. . . but they also want to be able to keep an eye on each other. Our king-sized bed allows them this luxury.
With the realization that we have four cats, I long ago gave up on making up a fancy bed each day. My grandmother would be disappointed. We now only pull out the comforter, plush pillows and throws whenever we know company is coming.

Ok, I was totally chuckling at how cute the photo is with all kitties at the corners. Then almost fell over when I read Lynilu's comment! LOL!!
