A wee bit of knitting

Irish Hiking Scarf
Pattern: Hello Yarn
Yarn: Lion Brand Cashmere Blend in Charcoal (72% Merino Wool, 14% Cashmere, 14% Nylon), 5 skeins
Needles: Size 8 Knitpicks Circular; 10.5 Straight to Bind Off
Completed: July 16, 2007

Lately I have been feeling a little guilty about my yarn stash. It sits there glaring at me, taunting me, whispering, "You don't need knew yarn, knit us up first. . . don't be a yarn horder." So, I have started on a bit of a stash busting knittting frenzy.

I had purchased the Cashmere blend early in my knitting career. I am not certain what I planned to do with it, but recall finding a good buy on it and buying enough for a more significant project. Whenever I spied the Irish Hiking Scarf pattern, I knew I had an opportunity to empty my stash of at least most of the six balls. I ended up using five and (very fortunately) returning the sixth, so it was a successful venture. The scarf is long enough to wrap twice and it feels very soft. I may just keep it for myself.

Our weekend was peaceful, our weekend was beautiful, our weekend is over. A summary would include date night with my beloved, babysitting for a friend recovering from surgery, an overnight trip to visit Cynical's folks, a big long nap this afternoon and a home-cooked dinner prepared by my boy. Seems we have become enthralled yet again with Big Brother, so that's sucking up what's left of our Sunday night. Oh, yeah, and more plumbing woes. Ain't home ownership grand? Calling a plumber in the morning.

I've never seen a scarf that cold hike! WOW! ;-) Seriously, it is really pretty. I love soft but rich hues of blue. As part of my downsizing, I've decided to not keep the large tote full of unused yard. If I ever get around to crocheting again, I'll start over. I'm giving it today to a friend who knits, a surprise for him. Yes, HIM. A charming, multi-talented man who took up knitting to relax and his most recent feat is a queen sized bedspread. His wife put it on the bed, and I can't wait to see it today.

I'm hooked on Big Brother as well. How can you not be? But don't you wonder who decorates the house and why?

that's an AWESOME scarf!! Totally love the cabling, so pretty! My cousin gave me a scarf several years ago kinda similar, store bot with gloves and it was over $100! And it wasn't even cashmere, it was all wool. You could totally sell these!
