Around here we stay up very, very late

Around here. . . at Chez Ragged, we are nothing if not impulsive.

Thursday afternoon I landed some free tickets to a Counting Crows, Live and Collective Soul concert in Louisville.

On Friday, we left work early, and made the two hour trek east to the concert. We braved rush hour traffic, the 95-degree temperature and beating sun. . . and loved every minute of it. We stayed up much too late, we got home in the wee hours of the morning, we were tired, sweaty and worn out, but no one said that impulsive behavior was easy.

I had a whole diatribe planned about how simply hearing the Counting Crows takes me back to a very happy and simple place and time in my life. I had wanted to write about how I listened to "August and Everything After" over and over and over again; how it had become the soundtrack to one summer and fall many years ago.

Instead, let's just say that when I heard my buddy Adam sing "Long December", I was nearly brought to tears. Because "If you think that I could be forgiven. . . I wish you would" is perhaps one of the most touching lyrical phrases I have ever heard.

And contrary to what you may read elsewhere, there was no indecent exposure, no flashing of the flesh, but there was a little alcohol consumption, which I'll blame on the intense heat and my need for hydration. I am, afterall, a Girl Scout.

I love the Counting Crows and Collective Soul (not too familiar with Live). And how cool that you got free tix!!
I'm currently searching for Heart tix for Jimmy's bday (shhhh!;-)). They're playing at local winery about 20 minutes from here. It's been years since we've been to a concert.

I love Counting Crows. That song is one of the songs that makes my heart hurt. I love it still.

I'm pea green with envy...I love all 3! When Art & I lived together, she was a manic Counting Crows fan & I nearly wore out our Live CD listening to Lighting Crashes (as a matter of fact, the Live CD was our first joint purchase as roomies).

& Free tickets make it even better.

AHHH, I'm so so so jealous. Adam is my soul mate. "I need a phone call...." Counting Crows are the most awesome ever. If ever anyone could pour out pure emotion into a song, Adam can. Holiday in Spain is my anthem at the moment. You lucky, lucky duck.
