Bourne, Bourne, Bourne

With much anticipation, much excitement and some careful planning, I was able to con my parents and Cynical into going to see the Bourne Ultimatum last night. My dad took little convincing, as he's a fan. My mom and Cynical, I think they were just along for the ride. . . the ride of their lives that is. It didn't hurt that I bought the tickets either.

I had watched "The Bourne Identity" and "The Bourne Supremecy" on Sunday, as sort of a quick prep session for last night's viewing. Cynical, not quite as taken by my dear Jason Bourne, was a newbie to the whole Ludlum phenomenon and not up on all that is Bourne.

But, he humored me, just as I have humored him upon the release of each of the Star Trek films. I even try to do a little research so that I know what's up with the movie, what to expect and some of the factoids.

On the way home, as I babbled about this and that idiosynchrasy of the movie, I noticed that my beloved did not share my enthusiasm. And here's the conversation that ensued:

Ragged: Bourne rocks. And that music, it drives the film. It's all about instinct, his instincts are right on. . . . . .

Cynical: Mmmm. Hmmmm.

Ragged: You don't seem to be as enthusiastic about this as I am. I seem to recall watching a bunch of guys look at their Day-Glo watches anticipating the start of the last Star Trek movie.

Cynical: Day-Glo watches?

Ragged: Yes, the entire audience, except me, wore Day-Glo watches and they babbled about how they always sat in the same seat for each Star Trek release.

Cynical: Mmmmmm. Hmmmmm.

Ragged: Listen, you are going to have to bone up on your Bourne watching so that you can discuss this with me in a way that does it justice. And by the way, at least there weren't words to the Bourne theme.

Any other fans out there? I am hungry for Bourne conversation.

You two are about to get the best of both worlds. Unconfirmed rumors are that Matt Damon is to play Captain Kirk in the next Star Trek movie.

Bourne is the bomb. Julia Stiles is very cool, I see them hooking up in the next film, there seems to be a mysterious past between them.

I, too, liked the music but read a review that didn't. I didn't let that affect me. My parents were annoyed with the camera work, but I didn't notice it being jerky, it seemed to fit the movie perfectly. I like the cinematography very much. PLus, my husband enjoys the series so that's good.

Bill and the guys were gonna go opening night and invited me. Alas, I had plans with a girlfriend, to whom Bill extended the invitation. I asked her if she'd like to see the movie and she responded, "I don't really like Tom Cruise."

I was hysterical!!! She won't ever live that down!
