Breathe in, breathe out

Ever know that you desperately just need a few hours to clear your head? Ever want to just hit the road alone. . . just you? It's not that you are running from anything in particular. It's not that you are headed any place specific. You just need some time, some time on your own.

This afternoon, after Cynical and I had pressure washed the outside of the house, attended an open house, and run a few errands, I took my car keys, a CD and my cluttered mind and headed to a town about 35 minutes away. I chose to head there because the drive is so peaceful, as it winds through the slightly turning trees, now-harvested corn fields and rows of houses with front porch swings. With each mile, each turn, I found my mind clearing, my soul rejuvenating and my thoughts sorted.

And when I arrived, I found myself at a favorite yarn store, with no particular project or shopping list in mind. I meandered around the store several times, finally setting on some wool that will make a deep red sweater for yours truly.

Then I made my way home. Somehow all that had been tangled in my mind was now orderly and tucked neatly away, nothing a little drive couldn't cure.

A resting spot
Cynical and I have become enamored with a newly constructed library in our community. What appeals to me most is the modern, clean design. However, what daws me there are the multipled windowed nooks perfect for reading, knitting or simply relaxing. It's a peaceful spot.

I have long had a love affair with libraries and bookstores and the spaces there draw me in further.

We went there today, just to browse and wander. I ended up soaking up the serenity in one of the coves, where I put my feet up and thumbed through a few possibilities.

What lies beneath
I can see that fall is coming. I can feel it in the air, catch it in a few changing leaves, taste it in the chili we made tonight. It's just there, within reach.

Just a shot in a cubby hole at the new library.

I can totally relate to your drive. I've taken a few of those. Glad you felt so "refreshed " afterwards. Lucky you to have such a library. More peace for you!

I also love the library in our new town - it's an old Carnagie and it's way cool.

Also, I talked my friend into taking a knitting class with me. She insisted that it's for 80 year olds, but I cited that you, her-hipness ragged, make knitting seem way cool. So, we'll see how it goes! :)

Oh, and PS - thanks for the update on the roll. :) When I get time I plan to add one to the new blog.
