Recently I have been receiving those e-mail questionaires designed to help your friends get to know you better. I must admit that I do enjoy reading those. Seems they do reveal a tidbit that perhaps you didn't know.
The most recent one has dealt with Christmas habits and memories. And there is one question about your most memorable gift. I didn't hesitate as I typed: a Big Wheel with a trunk full of Hershey bars.
For some reason I can recall, so very clearly, walking down the oak steps at my parents house and running directly to it, knowing it was mine, all mine. . . and being delighted when I opened the trunk to find chocolate. That must have been my dad's touch, passing along his sweet tooth.
I don't remember asking for one and I suspect I was very, very young, so young that it surprises me that I recall it so vividly.
And even though it was too cold to ride it outside, even though I couldn't ride it in the house, the memory of my Big Wheel and Hershey bars makes me smile and stands out among all of the cat sweaters, flannel pajamas, Toni Basil albums, black and white televisions and hoop earrings.
Here's wishing you Big Wheels and Hershey bars too.

This reminded me of the year my daughter got a play kitchen. As a special touch at the last minute I put some home made chocolate chip cookies in the oven. You cannot imagine her delight at their discovery. I think she was more excited about the cookies than anything else that year.
When I visit friends on the web, sometimes I "see" Christmas Cards when I read their posts. This is one of those posts. A card with a brightly colored big wheel on the front with the Hershey bars peeking out of the trunk (and maybe a bow on the handlebars) would make a wonderful card! (Was it yellow and red?)
