Seems that lately I have become a bit of a homebody. I think this is frustrating for my dear Cynical, as he works at home. By the time my work day has ended, I am ready to be safe and sound at Chez Ragged. . . just about the time he's ready to be out and about. I blame it on the cold, dark January we're finally having. I suspect too that it's a great excuse to be the slacker that I am.
I spent the majority of my Sunday inside, well, come to think of it, I spent the entire day inside. I wish I could say that my hibernation was fruitful; but it wasn't. I did a tad bit of laundry. I didn't clean house. I didn't clean out my car. I didn't move boxes around in the basement. I didn't even clear off my desk. I didn't do much of anything.
Here's what I did do:
-I watched "Persuasion" which we had DVRd from PBS. They are showing all of the Austen movies via Masterpiece Theater over the next few weeks. And thanks to the ever vigilent Brando, I was able to record them. Her call saved me. . . I would have missed them all together. Next up is Northanger Abbey and then Mansfield Park.
-I furthered my new found love of podcasts by downloading a few more from Cast-On and Lime & Violet. When I bought my new MP3 player just before Christmas it was for the expressed purpose of being able to listen to podcasts, as a bit of an experiment. And now I am hooked. I have long loved radio shows and am addicted to NPR, so the whole podcast thing really tickles my fancy. (I just said "tickle my fancy", I am my grandmother afterall.)
-I knitted on the Short Sleeved Cardigan from Fitted Knits; it's all red (Check out 9404) and warm. (PS: the link for the cardigan is not of my cardigan, just wanted to give you a gander at what I'm knitting.)
-I watched lots and lots of Law & Order. What started out as a fascination with the SVU version has grown and grown. And now I'm loving the Criminal Intent take with Chris Noth. Problem is that it is such a time sucker. I lose whole afternoons to it and it is on every single hour of the day, seriously!
-I did a little research about a National Endowment for the Arts Program which is reaching into our community. The Big Read is a program designed to get an entire community reading together and discusing a selected book. Looks like our city has chosen "The Joy Luck Club". I think I'm game, but I was secretly hoping for "My Antonia" or "The Great Gatsby", but I think I'll play along. I picked up a copy of the book after hoping to find it used. . . no luck.
-Oh, and I attempted a nap. I failed. I contemplated cleaning out my car, but passed. I considered taking photographs, but the thwarted nap got in the way. I'm such a slacker.

I was ever so glad to call Ragged and make her stick to her talk on the phone resolution more...
However, right after our call ended she got rid of the call waiting. I am sure to avoid me and those extra calls. :) LOL!!
J/K - Enjoy the shows!
That Big Read sounds interesting, altho I wouldn't be able to participate unless I'd be allowed 4 months to read a book. I've read "The Joy Luck Club" and also watched the movie several times. I know you're getting lots of knitting done while you're tv'ing so it's totally and completely guilt free.
Mim emailed me to give me the heads up about Masterpiece Theater. I watched half of Mansfield Park on Sunday...and was sorely dissapointed. I'll check on Sunday to see what's up next, but I'm not holding my breath for a good production. Maybe I'm too picky.
I'm also glad to know I'm not the only one having giant blocks of my life sucked away by Law & Order. SVU is my first love, but that Chris Noth can sure reel a gal in!!
