We have four cats. I know that might seem excessive to most of you, but it's a blended family and I honestly can't remember what it was like when it was just my brood shedding around the house.
Over the past few days our oldest cat, Ike, has been very lethargic. Now it's tough to define lethargy in an indoor, slightly overweight, lazy 10-year-old cat, but he just doesn't seem like himself. I am hoping that these vague references will mean something the vet, because I'm taking him in tonight. He's not going to like it, he was just there for annual shots a few weeks ago. He's eating from what I can tell. Cynical stalked him while he was "doing his business", so we know that everything seems to be functioning. (Yes, we monitor their comings and "goings", it's just a part of pet parenthood.) He's my sweet little cat, the one that follows me around, the one that talks to me in a squeeky little voice, the one that sleeps with me each night, padding my stomach like he's making biscuits. He's my Ike.
Part of me wants our dear sweet new vet to tell me, "Ma'am your cat is just lazy. Maybe he needs to get a job and start contributing the the household income instead of moving from one napping spot to the other."
That'd be the best news ever.

Michael's mom has 16 cats!!! And 3 dogs. It's crazy around there.
I hope Ike feels better soon. One of my little fat cats was lethargic for awhile and they couldn't find anything wrong with him. He snapped out of it after awhile, but I was miserable until he was better.
I hope he says that, too. And I hope Ike snaps out of it like Brena's kitty did. But i totally understand how you're feeling, i know how much your heart is breaking. so good and warm blessings being sent. please let us know what the vet says.
Here's hoping he's just a lazy bum. Keep us posted!
