Icy winter days

I should have photos to accompany this post, but I must confess I snapped a few and decided to go inside where it was warm and I never downloaded them. Any of you watching the news know we got our share of winter in the Ohio Valley.

I know I should hate weather like this, but in reality I love it. I love how beautiful everything is. I love wearing tennis shoes to work. I enjoy the survival instinct associated with it all. I do hate scraping my car, sliding into the office and worrying that the car behind me won't stop at the light.

It's cold outside! And it's icy, wet and scary, but it's soooo beautiful.

Yesterday around 2 p.m. we started getting snow which turned into a "wintry mix". I used the whole thing as an excuse to knit and listen to podcasts, pretending we were in for the long haul and knitting as if I needed to clothe women and children throughout the neighborhood.

A tad treacherous this morning. I made it, safe and sound, to work. Cynical, working from home today (how convenient), is without satellite service and I can envision him now, checking every 10 minutes just in case it has been restored.

I watched the weather news this morning from our trusty laptop. I had to leave out early, allowing myself extra time to trek through town. I was worried most that I wouldn't make it out of the driveway. I wish I was home, without satellite service, sitting in the middle of the bed with my earphones on, tea pot on the stove, knitting in my hands, snow falling outside.
