Thanks so much for your thoughts on life lessons. It's interesting to read everyone's take on life lessons and truthfulness.
In thinking about it even more, I wouldn't call it a hurtful situation. I never thought of it as something regretful or embarrassing, just a very clear way of learning a lesson. . . a lesson that I learned at six and not 26, so I am grateful, I really am. Things like that are better to learn early and in instances where no one really gets hurt; a simple lesson learned in an overall harmless way. One of the events I can look back upon and say, "Hey, I learned from that and I still carry that with me every day. It's part of what guides me."

I make a lot of mistakes, A LOT. Many of them repeatedly. I'm forgetful, lazy and procrastinate. But I really really try to learn from the big mistakes and not make them again. Life lessons that guide me to better decisions in the future. As you have.
I really enjoy your introspective posts. I relate to them very much.
Your story about the artwork made me think of this one time when my sister and I were younger. We were supposed to bring toys to school for a Christmas exchange. We like the toys that we brought because they were something that our mom would never buy for us. when it came time to choose, we chose our own gifts. My mom was really mad at us for that. I don't know why I still think about that time, but I frequently do. Something still eats at me about it. Hmmph.
