I'm home safe and sound, tired and fiber-laden after a few great days with my friends at a fiber festival (the Fiber Event in Greencastle, Indiana.) So much fun, so many beautiful yarns, so many cool artists, so much good food. What more could a girl ask for. How about an online friend meet-up, bunnies, aprons, fibers and nuts.
Left out from home Thursday night to meet up with Needlefingers and Pilot in preparation for heading the next morning. Got a chance to visit with Brando. . . an unexpected and welcomed surprise. Needlefingers and I met up with Jenny from the Blog the next morning and drove to Greencastle. We took advantage of the gorgeous weather and made several trips around the fair planning our shopping attack.
During our two days of yarn splurging, I ended up with four skeins of Shibuiknits sock yarn, some earth-toned Wistful from Briar Rose, so pretty Ocean sock yarn from Creatively Dyed Yarn, luxurious pale-toned Handmaiden Casbah, yellow-variegated Lamb's Pride Worsted, a Yarn Harlot book, new set of #2 Addi needles, some lavendar, more Yummy Nuts than a girl should be allowed, Sweet Clover soap and other goodies.
We left on Friday with our bags full and our feet heavy, we were tired, so we retired to the hotel after a great meal and dessert at Almost Home, a local downtown eatery recommended to us by the owner of River Knits. Later that night, after a quick lesson in granny-square making from Needlefingers, Jenny and I went forth with our crocheting. I vow to make the largest square ever.
We made another trip through on Saturday, eating yet more Yummy Nuts and meeting up with fellow Raveler and my Book Swap Pal Starstruck Cat. I was starstruck as she's as nice in person as she has been in our online chats. I am certain I scared her to death with my constant babbling and Yummy Nut promoting. So glad we were able to meet up. We were both were unsure as the the online-offline meeting etiquette, but I am glad it all came together. Hoping I didn't scare her to death with my nervous banter.
After a last minute best-buy of some silk/merino blend, I declared my yarn shopping officially ended. We headed home and after some visiting with Pilot, where we bestowed upon him all of the Fiber Fair 2008 memories and I hit the road. My hosts, Needlefingers and Pilot, were so kind to invite me to stay over night, but I missed my beloved and I think he missed me and I have to finish up that huge granny square. Thanks to my hosts, thanks to my driver, thanks to Starstruck Cat for agreeing to meet up. Thanks to Cynical for missing me.

Ok, I saw the title and then I saw the first picture and I had to think, uh, ummm, Ragged? Llama Yummy Nuts?! Is that like mountain oysters!
(LOL!) Sorry, poor sense of humor!!! Oh, what am I saying, I can't even apologize for that, that's exactly how I think!!!
I'm so envious of the treasures you acquired and meeting a IM/bloggy pal! And hanging with your peeps!!! How fun!!!
AND OMG! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Well, a day late!!! I hope it was swell!
First of all, happy belated birthday!
Secondly, you weren't frightening AT ALL. You (and Jenny from the Blog and Needlefingers) were quite delightful and funny... it was especially humorous to me that we were all thinking along the same lines with regard to yummy nuts... a sign that we'll be friends for a long time, right?
That Creatively Dyed yarn you have-- is it Luxury 06? That's what came home with me.
YAY for The Fiber Event!
Yummy nuts? What are yummy nuts?
LOL! I just googled "Yummy Nuts" and the blog entry is the 4th one down! But that still doesn't answer what Yummy Nuts are!
