It's Monday. Where did my long weekend go? What happened to the last three days?
Just a quick summary, as Cynical and Pilot have managed to summarize our weekend away very well. I won't go repeatin'. Headed to Illinois to visit friends/family. Got to visit with the whole crew: Needlefingers, Pilot, Brando, Rudy and the kids. Needlefingers welcomed me to the world of yarn dyeing*. Got a chance to play with two of the cutest kids on the earth. (Seriously, those kids are awesome!) Ate some pizza, some huge cinnamon rolls, ate at the Diary Dee not once (but twice), saw some chickens, lost my necklace, cursed my yarn, slept extremely well, didn't wanna come home, watched a few movies, did some knitting and am wishing I could go back.
As for today, we got up bright and early, our plans having changed when we learned we'd be hosting family. Did some errand running, bought a mattress and box springs for our second guest room, hosted family, took my mom shopping, grilled out, ate on the porch, packaged up some goodies to put in the mail, wrapped up some knitting, bought some super cute shoes.
I'm in the living room now, Cynical's in the kitchen working. I'm listening to my beloved sing along with a CD. It's good to be us.
Atop, we're rinsing our yarns post dyeing (including sock blank gifted to me by Needlefingers); few shots of our yarn dyeing. The pretty stuff belongs to Needlefingers, mine is the questionable stuff. And a chicken, 'cause who doesn't love chickens?
*Hoping to get you some finished product photographs. So grateful to Needlefingers for walking me through dyeing. Nothing like learning from a pro and so glad we had a few leisurely days to do it.
Coming soon: Finished project photographs.
