I voted. . .

and I got my free cup of coffee.

Let me present a scenario:

You walk into your precinct polling place. You notice a fellow voter wearing a political button endorsing specific candidates. Doesn't matter which candidate or whether you are for or against said candidate. Do you consider that electioneering and a violation of election rules? Are you offended>

I have to wonder about someone's convictions if a campaign button can change their mind. I voted early & one of the women working at the courthouse had an Obama button on her desk. I didn't complain. It doesn't offend me.

But, I think if the poll was over run with election propeganda, that would be irritating & over the top.

Off topic: my word verification is "cider." Is it a sign? Should I head to the store for a gallon of cider?

I'm not offended by it, but I don't think people working at the voting location should be wearing anything like that.

Last election a lady I work with had a baseball cap on endorsing her candidate, and one of the guys at the voting place told her she couldn't come in with it on. The funny part is that she is such a vain person and knew her hair wouldn't look spectacular with taking the hat off. Because of this she asked if she could come back later because she would need to do her hair. She did indeed come back later in the day after she work and restyling her hair.

Said person should be pummeled about the head and ears and subjected to an old fashioned stoning. But before that, she should have her right to vote revoked on the spot. Nah, seriously, there shouldn't be any pins, t-shirts, or signs at the polls. That crap should be over by then. It doesn't matter if it offends you or not, it is improper and illegal.

Seconding what Anonymous said about the legality of it. As we discussed this morning and I'll share here for anybody interested, I went through election judge training, and everyone should be asked to remove any politicized items.

Of course, those are IL rules.

Now Farmwife has given me a craving for apple cider. Mmmm, warm spiced apple cider.

A button? No, wouldn't offend me, not on a fellow voter. On a poll worker? Yes, it would bother me. But I know they wouldn't be able to wear it.

I got my free cuppa, too.

I would remind the Judges that it is illegal whether it is my candidate or not. It is not right.

Maybe they didn't know, but the Judges should. Illinois here too.

I didn't know it was illegal.

Outside of the law, I wouldn't care either way. If they want to tell me who they support, it doesn't bother me.
