We were warned that this was a ten-bag of candy street. We were prepared and that's a good thing as around 80 -90 trick-or-treaters slipped up our walk demanding candy.
I was reminded yet again why I love kids as a five-year-old (Spiderman's offspring it seems) screamed as he headed down the walk, "Now tell me to have fun." And you know what, we did just that.
We had one little trick-or-treater refuse an Almond Joy, stating simply, "I don't like coconut." Man, these kids know their candy. I again obliged.
It was wonderful to sit on the front porch stoop, greet trick-or-treaters and visit with our neighbors, officially meeting one or two for the first time. I am reminded daily that the move was a good choice. I missed this sort of community atmosphere.
We snuck out as soon as there seemed to be a break in the flow, dashing across town to see a movie produced by a few of my acquaintances. "Hallows Eve" was filmed locally and includes some local talent as well as an original soundtrack. Campy, kitchy and great. We loved it. Lots of gore, lots of great quips. The crowd adored it and it was a great way to wrap up Halloween.
Started our day with breakfast out, ran a few errands, got some stuff for a soup recipe stolen from a co-worker, picked up buttons for my puff-sleeved cardigan, knitted a bit on the porch, walked to and from the library, and made afore-mentioned soup.
All in all, we ended October with a bang and stepped into November quietly. Now tell me to have fun.

We had one little trick or treater run from the yard and straight into the side of the car he arrived in. I didn't even turn on the gas chamber guy. We also had one refuse to look at him. We had several that refused to come up on the porch but this is usual. Its not worth doing if you dont over do it.
That sounds like fun. :) We didn't even see anyone out on our street!
