On and on

Sunday night always signals a mad dash to get ready for the impending week. Today wasn’t any different. However, after much preparation, time wasted on planning and good faith efforts, I am really never ready for Monday morning.

All in all, it was a good weekend and I think I managed to knock a few things off my ever-growing “to do” list. I am a compulsive list maker and tend to overdo a bit, but leave me to my vices. They keep me sane.

Here’s my checklist for the past weekend:

1. Buy new pants. . . check!
2. Fret that they are not hip and happenin’ enough. . . check!
3. Prepare camping gear even though you aren’t leaving for a week. . . check!
4. Clean bathroom after stand-off over grimy tub with Cynical. . . check!
5. Visit “in-laws” (no smart comments as they may be held against me). . . check!
6. Search fruitlessly for new desk lamp. . . check!
7. Begin quest to replace all household light bulbs with compact flourescents. . . check!
8. Take photos of adorable baby. . . check!
9. Become more anal retentive (if that’s possible) and make list after list after list. . . check!
10. Pen “thank you” note to siblings in a gesture of gratitude and an example of how it should be done. . . check!
11. Walk around Target with cart full of goodies and out of guilt, put most of them back. . . check!
12. Weasel my way out of a trip to Wal-Mart. . . check!
13. Mourn the loss of “Six Feet Under” on Sunday nights. . . check!
14. Battle cat for space in bed. . . check!
15. Watch “A Lot Like Love” and swear not to tell anyone. . . check!
16. Watch “Off the Map” in an attempt to redeem myself. . . check!
17. Cram as many 69 cent Diet Cokes from McDonalds in before the offer ends. . . check!
18. Read three chapters of my latest book without feeling guilty and doing housework. . . check!
19. Find out when the second season of “Lost” begins and in a very signature nerdlike move, write it in my calendar. . .check!
20. Blog about very boring weekend. . . check!

The photo above is just a little public service announcement reminding you to recycle. It is also proof that I am not alone in my love for quality cola. I took the shot while dropping off my own recyclables on Friday.

Actually I liked it. I feared being teased as it's kinda young movie for me, but it was very endearing. And yours?
