Vacation. . . all I ever wanted

It’s been said before and it will be said repeatedly until it becomes a reality: I need a vacation. I don’t know if it’s the weather. Maybe it’s because Cynical works evenings and I am bored. Maybe it’s vacation envy. It really doesn’t matter why: I need a vacation.

I not only need a vacation, but I deserve one too. Don’t you agree? If you are waffling on the issue, let me provide a few reasons I deserve (and need) to be swept away for nothing less than four days:

1. My floors are clean. I think that’s reason enough in itself. I hate mopping and right now my floors are a work of art. Let’s get away while we are ahead.

2. I am pasty white. Not pale, mind you, but pasty. I use the lightest color in foundation that Clinique makes. I think it’s called “alabaster”. Translation: Pasty. This girl needs some quality relaxing in the sun. Breeze please.

3. On vacation Diet Cokes don’t count. It’s a rule. I have been so good in my attempt to lessen my intake, so I deserve a reward, right?

4. I have a whole list of books I wanna read. There is no way I will have time to read if I stay at home, too many distractions, too much cat hair to suck up and too many people calling. If I have time to read, I will have time to review the books and save you from wasting your time, or recommend something stupendous.

5. I can post some cool vacation photos on my blog. They have to be better than the ones documenting the progression of my tomatoes.

6. I finally learned how to operate the DVD player unassisted and I remembered to turn it off after using it.

7. I picked up all of my shoes and put them, according to color, in a neat line under the bed. This was no small feat (pardon the pun) and now we won’t be tripping over them, just tripping that they are organized by color.

8. Six Feet Under is ending soon, so we will need some time away to mourn properly.

9. I haven’t ever had an “grown-up” vacation and I am considering becoming an adult one day.

10. Everyone else is doing it. (Didn’t work when I was younger and probably won’t work now that I am older.)

The photo here was taken from a rooftop parking garage in my community. It's in our downtown area where lots of historic buildings are located. I get a little tired of only seeing the fascades as there is some true artwork in the overall construction of the buildings, so I shot several from this bird's eye view.
