Give 'em what they want

I love sugar so much that I am wondering if Halloween should oust Thanksgiving as my favorite holiday. It's already started, candy is appearing everywhere and I just can't help myself.

At my old place I never had many trick-or-treaters rapping at my door, so I tended to go for the "good stuff" when it came to my candy selection. That way I could truly "treat" my visitors and enjoy the stash for myself. I was trying to buck my reputation as the "Cat Lady on the Corner" for the "Good Candy Lady on the Corner".

Last year was Cynical's first year at the new place. We had picked out some candy for his locale, but reserved the chocolately goodness for my house. It was our last year in separate places, so we felt it was OK to have our own supplies. However, as I sat quietly watching "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" at my house, little did I know Cynical's doorbell was ringing nonstop. The phone rang and Cynical was obviously panicked. Candy supplies were running low and he was afraid of. . . . . . the children!

I peered into my plastic pumpkin, sadly realizing I was going to have to share my quality stash with strangers. Me and my pumpkin o' candy made the trip across town and sacrificed ourselves for the cause.

This year, however, we will have the "give away" kind and the keepers all in one spot.

Bloghopping and found yours to be very entertaining. My husband and I love Halloween, too, but since we've moved, the only kids we have come to the door are our own grandkids. Therefore, I buy my Hub's favorites---Snickers.

He always dresses up and tries to scare the kiddies when they come by. It's so funny to see a 60 year old man in a scary mask hunkered down behind a door ready to pounce on unsuspecting (not really) kids. Halloween is such fun.

I enjoy your pictures for their whimsy and your neat view on items in your world. I think you have an outstanding eye for composition and very intriguing textures to your photos.

Last year I decided to skip the OhMyGodIJustAteMyWeightInHalloweenCandy thing by only purchasing the candy that I don't like. I ended up trying all the candy I don't like, and suffering through some it before finally going back to the store and buying bags (and bags) of the good stuff.

I always wanted to be the house to give away the full sized candy bars. Someday I will. That's my goal.

Cate,
I so want to be the house that wants to scare little kids. Maybe I can talk Cynical into being something spooky, like the meter man.

Pilot,
Why thank you. You know photos (and it shows in your shots), so I am feeling very complimented. Thank you.

Nicole,
The best thing I ever did for Halloween was talking my co-workers into being the Osborne Family. I had to be Kelly, but it was sooo cool. Maybe I can dig up the photo of us and post it. We were very convincing.

Emily,
I get that! I always wanna be the candy lady and full-size bars are sooooo decadent. That would definitely put me ahead of the people that made popcorn balls. What kid wants a sticky popcorn ball? Problem for me is that I can talk myself into liking just about any kinda candy except licorice!
