Knit-picking

To knit or not to knit. That is the question.

Recently during a visit to Mecca. . . uh. . . I mean Target. . . I came across a "beginner 1" knitting kit for a more than reasonable price. Tempted by the creations of my friend, Kristi, I decided to give it a try. (Kristi is a knitting guru, the high priestess of yarn if you will.)

Problem is that I am a bit overwhelmed with the prospect of creating a cute, trendy scarf. I have never knitted before and even though the cylinder-like container promises a helpful DVD, I am just a little unsure.

I also cannot stand starting a project that 1) I may not finish or 2) I can't do well. (Explains why there are few "original Ragged creations" at our house.) So, therein lies the problem. I am intimidated by the beginner knitting kit.

Kristi promises to provide much instruction, but I fear that I will only be only be humiliated.

So, the kit sits in my closet mocking me each time I pull out something to wear. I am tempted to say to it, "Leave me alone. . . do you want to go the way of the stamping kit?"
