Over and over and over again

I am reading a book called The Song Reader that is basically centered around an older and younger sister. The oldest sister is, you guessed it, a song reader meaning that she helps "clients" decifer the tunes and lyrics playing over and over in their heads, determining what they mean to them, what course of action they should take and what's really going on in their psyche. It's fiction people, so make no judgments.

That got me to thinking: What lyrics do I hear repeatedly? What's my favorite lyric? Is there one that sums up my life?

I dunno my answers, but I certainly want to know how you'd respond.

Tell me: What is your favorite lyric? Is there one that sums up your life? Is there one that you hear repeatedly? Maybe one that comforts you or takes you to your "happy place"? Or maybe a "not-so-happy place"?

FAV-"I can see clearly now the rain is gone. I can see all obstacles in my way. Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind. It's gonna be a bright, bright, sunshiney day."
SUMS UP LIFE- "I am happy to be stuck with you."
HAPPY- "Too-ra loo-ra too-ra loo-rye-aye"
NOTSOHAPPY- "It's been a long December and there's reason to believe that maybe this year will be better than the last."

Those are great. I actually knew each song instantly. Long December is such a sad song and I would have to steal that one myself.

Not so happy for me is:
"Don't tell me why
nothing is good enough"

Happy for me is:
"These are the days you'll remember.
Never before and never since, I promise, will the whole world be warm as this.
And as you feel it, you'll know it's true that you are blessed and lucky.
It's true that you are touched by something that will grow and bloom in you."

I am still working on the fav and ones to sum up my life. You were quick on the draw!

However a few faves are:
-"Pretty little thing let me light your candle
'Cause mama I'm so hard to handle now"
-"If I had a dollar, I might give you 99."

Another happy is "we wouldn't have to eat kraft dinner, but we would"

They were kind of instant answers. But I think I picked some good ones.

This was hard. And I didn't totally follow directions. But, eh, there goes:

FAVE:
"She's not crazy, just a little misunderstood"

SAD:
"Hold on, hold on to yourself, cause this is going to hurt like hell".

RECENT LIFE:
This qualifies as my life and as a sad one: "Winter just wasn't my season"

LIFE:
"Slow down, you're doing fine, you can't be everthing you wanna be before your time"

HEAR A LOT/SAD:"I'd be silly to start preaching, because I don't know what point to make"

HAPPY/WHAT I WANT OUT OF LOVE: "I could never explain what I hear when you don't say a thing. The smile on your face lets me know that you need me. There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me. A touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall."

HAPPY HAPPY: "I've been here and I deserve a little more...And I belong anywhere but in between."

"See you and me have a better time than most can dream of"

"I've been thinking about my doorbell and when ya gonna ring it"

"I'm surprised that you've never been told before, that you're perfect, and you're lovely and that somebody wants you"

ANGRY:
"I was dreaming of a boy whose reality I knew was a hopeless to be had...I thought he was a man but he was just a little boy"

Very, very cool lyrics. Please let me know from whence they came. I am not sure I recognized all of them. PS: There are no directions, so you followed them just fine.

BTW Emily, your quick stab at them was great. I think the "instant" answer sometimes are the most honest.

Fascinating New Thing was in 10 Things I Hate About You. Yes, a teenybopper movie. But a fantastic modern retelling of Shakespeare. Y'all know I'm nuts for that stuff.

I recognized a bunch of them, but wanted to "check" my memory. Isn't it funny when you read a lyric that you actually read it in your head to the tune of the song. Maybe it's just me.

I am a sucker for retelling of classics, so don't feel badly. I too have seen "10 Things I Hate About You."
