Blog5: What's your reaction to this picture?

Today's Blog5 assignment:
What's your reaction to this picture?

I am first drawn to "radio playing" which is bolder and seems to be an afterthought. I am also thinking that I don't want anyone littering, smoking or spitting around me, so I would be grateful to see the sign. Not that I'd point it out to anyone that disobeyed the requests.

And then there is the message to "please pray". I find that very simple, very sweet and perhaps an appropriate measure given that you are crammed on a subway car where no one can smoke, spit, litter or listen to loud music.

I also think it's a nice message. I know that sounds corny and no matter what your beliefs, it's nice to ask someone to use their time to pray, not for something you specifically requested, but for whatever they choose. I also find it universal. No matter what faith you choose, most rely heavily on communication, meditation or prayer. I liked the message and would have smiled if I had seen it.

Wow...I CLEARLY am more cynical than is good for me.

I guess I am just frustrated being a liberal person, in a conservative faith, in a liberal city that doesn't understand how I fit in based upon the conservative views that get defensively slung about as truths.

I understand your dilemma. I am very liberal, but have complete respect for religions of any sort and respect each and consider myself a Christian. However, I really give conservative Christians a hard way to go often, but with this I just felt, "nice thought".
