Day 7: Starting on the resolutions early

So, today was Day 7 in our quest for vacation. It was marked our attempt to get off to a good start for the new year with a trip to the Y in that ever-ending quest to trim up, strengthen and rid ourselves of the holiday weight.

My day began with a surprise visit and belated gift from my brother. Prince P and I haven't always seen eye-to-eye, but I think we did have a meeting of the minds this morning. I put on a pot of coffee and we settled in for a lengthy discussion. I hated to see him go and I was sad to know he was heading back to North Carolina, taking with him my favorite nephew. (The book is called "Doris" and is a zine anthology. Cool gift and I have already dug into it.)

Afterward I thought about tackling some of the projects I hoped to knock off the list, but never seemed to quite get up the stamina to do anything. Cynical and I convinced ourselves that a trip to the Y would spur us along and grant us the energy infusion that we needed.

After the Y we went out for a belated lunch (Mmmmmm, yo amo Mexican!), returned a few things (shhhhh!) and rushed home as Cynical had a work-related obligation. In a sudden rush of unexpected energy I nabbed some quarters and cleaning supplies in a quest to clean out my car. Sadly, it had gotten a little shabby with all of our running and road-tripping lately.

Then it was onto cleaning the house, doing some laundry and tackling my stack of magazines. I have to come clean on this: I so love magazines, but I never seem to sit down long enough to peruse them, so today I perused to my heart's content. Full of knowledge and wishing I weighed 30 pounds less (thanks "Health" editors!), I filed them away, tossed a few in the recycling box and knocked a chore off my list.

If only my closets would clean themselves and my desk drawers were miraculously organized. Oh, and if a little mouse could untangle the cord spaghetti stretching from our computer. There's always Wednesday.
