Baby, it's cold outside

I know that most of you had been pleased that the winter had been mild thus far. Part of me was too, not wanting to use my yarn and mad money on heating bills. But, the larger part of me, missed winter. I missed wearing my warm sweaters, newly knitted scarves and thick socks. I missed the sting of the cold and the sputtering of snow.

So, while the rest of you were probably cursing the dipping temperatures and perhaps disappointed in the snow, I was ever so glad to see it. I didn't want the season to pass us by without incident. I wanted a little snow to coat the ground. I wanted a little chill to remind me how nice the spring warmth would be.

I have always loved a little winter in my year of seasons and I wasn't ready to watch it slip away. Well, maybe now I won't have to.

I ventured out today in the snow and loved it. I loved it stinging my face and delighted in my nose turning red. I was even glad to see my breath form a cloud. I was glad to greet winter.

I spent my day running errands with my mother, making a trip to Sam's (yes, say it ain't so, but darnit, they have the best deals on frozen lasagna in town and who can pass up a brick of paper towels?), and even a Target run.

I also got a little time with my dad. I don't get enough time with him, quality father-daughter time, that is.

Cynical and I wrapped up our evening with a coffee run and continuing with our Indie film fascination as of late, watched "Saving Face". Our weekends have been uneventful lately, but I hate to complain as I am sure that soon we will be craving some down time. I hope we appreciate these quiet hours while we can.

Oh, and of course I knitted. As a matter of fact, I finished the Umbilical Cord hat from Stitch N Bitch. It's a gift for Princess S in celebration of her first birthday. I cannot wait to see that red-headed baby in that pretty green hat. I was pleased overall with the hat, but would have made a few minor changes. Does that feeling ever end for a knitter: wishing I had done this or that with every project?

I am plugging away on the Wavy scarf, it had been tucked back for a while, however, I swear I heard it screaming at me wanting attention.

Glad to see the cold weather we visited with Rudy's mom and dad and went to the local Wal-Mart in Ky all the people were looking at me like I was a alien. Not sure if it was my sockhat knit by Kneedles that is NORMAL or my voice. I don't say the YA'LL's.

Please help! Maybe I just look funny?

Ragged, I haven't been active in the reading club as you've probably noticed because...I've lost my book again. It's not that big of a house so I don't know how I keep losing a book that size. Just wanted to let you know what the problem is. Cate

Brando,
I can train you in the art of the "ya'll" if you like. I bet you were adorable in your hat.

Cate,
It's a no pressure book club, so take a deep breath and look in the refrigerator, maybe the book is hiding in there.

Found the book today. Guess where. The bookshelf.

Who woulda thunk it?
