I'm not ready yet

It was frigid. It was cold. It was snowy. It was slick. But did any of this stop us from going shopping as planned? No. . . because at Chez Ragged, we don't let the weather stop us from over spending and clothing search disappointment.

Cynical and I headed out early this morning despite the beautiful snow fall and seemingly icy streets. I was at the helm and contrary to popular belief, I may not like driving in the stuff, but I will do it, especially if I think that I may come home with good yarn and clothes that make me look 20 pounds thinner.

A yarn store nearby was having a big sale and I felt the need to find the necessities to make my own Clapotis and an Odessa hat. I did indeed find what I was searching for on the yarn front. Cynical wasn't so fortunate, learning that "I'll only be in the yarn shoppe for a few minutes" really means, "Better bring a book, it's gonna be a while."

However, I was not so lucky with flattering attire.

Upon entering the first store, I was hopeful, spying sales racks wall to wall. I scoured. I dug-in. I executed a well-planned search and what did I come up with? Cute pants that made my butt look hot? A shirt that ever so elegantly highlighted my assets? Nope, I found nothing, nada, nyet. Nothing.

Dismayed and feeling chubby and unattractive, we left in search of food hoping that would not only improve my mood, but rejuvenate us as well.

I resorted to going to the mall and after much searching, much disappointment and a few foiled attempts at trying on something that remotely fit or even approached the appropriate color, I ended up with a bag containing three pair of pants, a sweater set and a few oddly-colored shirts. . . everything I needed to continue my quest to resemble my fourth grade teacher or a recently retired librarian.

Still dismayed and still disheartened and praying that someone would please secretly tape me as a candidate for "What Not To Wear", we headed home to our own mall where we further continued the fruitless search. Giving up, I spied Bath and Body Works. One size fits all: I ended up with a bag stocked with Eucalyptus Mint stuff.

It's another late night at Chez Ragged and try as he may, Cynical was unable to convince me it was time for bed (sleep that is). I am not quite ready, feeling the need to review my purchases, re-read the Clapotis pattern and maybe lotion up with my one-size-fits-all lotion.

I would have loved to hit the sale. Didn't need to in any way, shape or form, but would have loved it anyway.

It was a madhouse, you could hardly move through the store. I would have looked at more, but it was too treacherous.
