Grinding through the rest of the week

The bad thing about a long weekend is that eventually you have to go back to work. I am not complaining, mind you, as it's a three-day work week, but there is still that "ugh" feeling you get when you wake up and realize that you have to don clothes and venture out of the house before 2 p.m.

And getting ready this morning wasn't easy. After not sleeping well at all, I arose to realize I couldn't find appropriate attire for my day. I have the philosophy of dressing according to my calendar. After fumbling in the closet for an enternity, I went with an outfit I am now regretting as I tug at my sleeves and wonder if my pants are too short. (Don't you hate that feeling. . . the feeling that you just want to rip off what you are wearing and run out of the building screaming, "Why hasn't someone just called 'What Not To Wear'? Start the secret footage now. Save me.")

I then sauntered into the bathroom to try to make sense of my hair and realized my straightener was not heating. I plugged and unplugged. I tapped. I pushed buttons. All to no avail. And guess what? It's raining, it's gonna rain all day. A faulty straightner and humidity combine to make for a very, very unkempt Ragged. I made due and left feeling chubby, frizzy and dismayed that I had to go to work at all.

My saving grace this week is that Cynical has taken a break from his third job and that means we will have evenings together. I suspect that it's all about home improvement, but I am pretending that it's because he just couldn't stay away from his beloved.

In other news, Figgy seems to have taken nicely to his home and unlike his owners, he's welcomed the rain that's draining nicely through his potting soil/compost mixture, down through the rocks and out the handy-dandy holes my dad drilled for him.

If you can't be happy with yourself, admire your fig tree. That's my new motto. . . at least until he goes the way of the fern.

giggle! Your hair saga reminds me of an episode of "Will & Grace" in which they were remodeling and sharing a bathroom. She didn't have enough time to do her hair, so she shows up at the office wearing a huge hat, tophat-like, as if from "Cat In The Hat," with her frizzy hair stuffed under it. Please, oh please, tell me you didn't wear a hat to work!!

As for the outfit, I remember many mornings that I tried on, then tossed on the bed, about half of my wardrobe before giving up and wearing whatever was on me when I reached the point of no return. Wearing the point-of-no-return-outfit makes you feel out of sorts all day, doesn't it?

I hope your day turns into a wonderful surprise! Smile!! Bedazzle them with your pearly-whites and no one will notice any thing else!!

Ugh! I totally know what you mean. I often have those days. The worst thing is that feeling that you utterly made the wrong decision and you're so uncomfortable in what you're wearing.

Just thinking about it makes me uncomfortable.
