I am proud to say that our Tuesday was much more productive and rewarding than our Monday. We did redeem ourselves, observing Independence Day in our own special way. Hold onto your seats, this may be way more excitement than you can stand. I promise you a 4th of July featuring no fingers burned by sparklers, no bottle rockets shot at our neighbors and no firecrackers thrown at passers-by. Instead it's a day full of intrigue, long-awaited project updates and cat hair.
The morning began with Cynical finally cleaning out his vehicle. I had tried to inspire him recently by cleaning out my own, but the bug didn't bite until today.(See, intrigue and excitement.)
The big news is that today, unlike Monday, I did put on what would qualify as clothes before 3 p.m. After such an accomplishment, we escaped our other riveting household duties by sneaking out for lunch with my dad. A quick trip to Lowe's followed. Walking into that place is nearly overwhelming to me. So many possibilities. So many ideas. So much work. So little talent for any of the afore mentioned.
After literally loading crap into the car, we stopped by my folks where we not only scored a five-gallon bucket, but also coerced my dad into drilling holes into the bottom for a very special project. After waiting out the rain, we headed out to our favorite of haunts (cough, cough) Sam's for our staples cat litter and bottled water.
Cynical and I stole two hours and hid from the heat and humidity in the theater where we watched "The Lake House". For those of you shocked that Cynical went to see this flick with me, you should know that it was his idea. I liked it, but then again, I am such a girl sometimes. So shoot me.
We came home with all of the ingredients for our special project which I am sure you would give your right arm to read about: I finally transplated our poor little stick with a single leaf that we fondly refer to as our fig tree. I am doing my best to properly nurture Figgy, trying to get him off to a good start. I saw a small leaf bud which I think is a sign of hope, so keep your fingers crossed. I placed his bucket in the back yard. I didn't want him to see me dump our poor departed fern into our toter. I didn't think that would help his morale and I didn't want to ruin his big move from a tiny carton to a big ole bucket.
I promised you cat hair and I have nothing more to say about that than: when do we have a day that doesn't involve cat hair?
Another shot from the botanical garden. There is a wildflower area that is random and beautiful.
