Vet visits and cat hair

Ike and I took a little trip to the vet tonight. He cried all the way. I fretted. I felt we were off to a good start whenever we got our now regular vet. There's something about her that I like. Maybe it's because she talks to Ike as much as she does me.

So, here's the lowdown: he has a temperature and his bloodwork came back like baby bear's bed: just right. Upon this news, the vet was perplexed and then she asked for the two tests that every cat owner dreads (feline leukemia and the other fatal disease that at this moment I can't recall.) Upon that announcement she left the room and I nearly passed out. It hit me like a ton of bricks. This could be serious.

They sent an assistant in to sit with me, and after she asked if she could get me anything, I asked to go to the bathroom. (When I really wanted to say, "I don't know you, but can you sit her and hold my hand, maybe wipe my nose as I cry and snot all over the place.")

Ike's an indoor cat, but about a year ago he got out and spent the night locked in our garage. That meant he could have possibly been exposed.

After what were the longest 10 minutes in my life, she came back in and much like a cheerleader announced that we were good, all good. The tests were negative. She literally said, clapping her hands and jumping up and down, "We're ok, we're ok."

He got a shot to bring the fever down and we are supposed to watch him, but otherwise, she think that will take care of things. If not, we'll look at some more tests. In the meantime, though, we're going to count our blessings.

So glad those two things are ruled out!

Watch those kitty fevers - that's what we attribute Copper's 'specialness' to. :)

I am so glad too! I was very concerned but tried to hide it.

That is very good news! I hope he's feeling more himself today. Your vet sounds cool.
