since I have had time to deal with such nonsense as eating a well-balanced meal, visiting the blog world or knitting. Seems that the move, unpacking, family reunions, a heavy work load and volunteer retreats have sucked me dry of any creativity, time or energy.
However, I can say that my offline life has been very productive, if not backbreaking lately. We are all moved in, we have even started making the house a home. I think for the past few weeks we've been caught up in the details of moving and not necessarily of enjoying the house. We do have television, though I must admit that I haven't watched much of it.
Last weekend was perhaps the most fruitful since the move. We made a trip to the storage facility and brought home the remainder of my Fiestaware collection, all of my books and lots of other stuff that I needed to find a place for. And that's what I spent my Sunday doing: going upstairs to the studio space, downstairs to the den and back up again for this and that. My back and legs are literally sore from all of the bending and stairs.
I must admit that I fully adore my studio space. It's won't necessarily appear in House Beautiful, but it certainly meets my needs and allows me some decorating license I wouldn't necessarily subject Cynical to elsewhere in the house. Repurposed bookshelves, an old refurbished desk and my collection of "stuff" has found a new home in the studio and I have relished in arranging it.
Still need to hang some of my artwork and find a place for my iMac (don't laugh), but it's starting to take shape. The top photo includes my shelf area, featuring my knitting books, magazines, binders of patterns, boxes of photographs, journals, photographs and stuff I've collected over the years including some artwork from some of you reading this here blog. There are also some favorite books, but the bulk of those are in our den.
The second photo is the "yarn closet". The built-in shelves are perfect for my sock yarn collection, boxes of knitting paraphernalia and finished projects. The rod in back is holding some of my wearable knitted items. And there is space for my bins of yarn. In addition, Cynical hung a row of hooks for my project bags. You might also spy a beautiful knitted rug on the floor which was created and gifted to us by Needlefingers. I feel a bit guilty keeping it all to myself, but I have found that the painted hardwood floor up there can be tough to sit on, and this way I can have a comfy spot to claim when spreading projects out. I suspect I might hang some more hooks in the closet.
The last photo is of my desk, a work in progress itself. I plan to surround it with small pieces of art created by my loved ones and picked up along the way. I'll also move our spare computer up here and perhaps do some writing and blogging as well. I'm also hoping to add a large rug and maybe run a clothes line of sorts along one wall on which to hang finished knitted socks.
The good news is that our living room furniture was delivered today. It has the best feeling fabric and I can't wait to get home to pet it. I promise to bore you with photographs soon.
I can feel it starting to take shape, one box at a time.

I envy your yarn closet. Big time.
Congratulations! Looks like kitty is settling in, too. Your studio looks like an amazing space, you'll do amazing creations there. I love the idea of running a clothes line to display knitted socks! Can't wait to see your new living room furniture!
I dream of a studio/sewing room/get away all of my own. But I think if I had a room as lovely & organized as yours, I might never leave it. I wonder if Husband would have my meals delivered to me..........
