When I posted yesterday, I never quite got to Sunday. Even I was tired after typing my Friday and Saturday summary and I didn't think it fair to drag you through yet another day. We've all had time to rest now, so for the last day of my weekend, here's an overview (as if you really care!):
Sunday began with a little sleeping late. Storms and sleep don't mix, so we had some catching up to do. As per our general Sunday plan, we milled around the house and made some breakfast. After a mad dash to clean the house from top to bottom as it had been neglected last week, we decided to venture out geocaching. What an incredible day to be out with your beloved. The weather was wonderful, the trees were still full of colorful leaves, those that managed to hang on despite a windy night. The leaves that did fall were still bright and vibrant.
What do I enjoy most about geocaching? Oh, the search is fun. I enjoy the find as well. But, what I most look forward to is time outside in places that I may never have gone, never have sought out and therefore never enjoyed.
We have what's called a greenbelt around our community. It's a biking, walking, and running path that meanders all around our town connecting parks, running through neighborhoods, through farmland and pastures. I see parts of it during my daily travels, but since it doesn't cross through our area, I forget that it's even there.
Recently we have discovered several cache sites in that area and so we have gotten to roam a bit along the paths. It amazes me how many people use this path. From families out on a bike ride to older people taking a stroll. It's a hidden treasure and I wouldn't have found it without that little GPS device.
Now I would still appreciate all of the scenery and peacefulness of these areas, but I wouldn't be doing it if I wasn't with Cynical. As we drive around town in search of hidden treasures, we get a chance to talk, to work together toward a common goal and to enjoy some great sites together. You can't buy that kinda quality time, at least not on what I make.
The photo above was taken at one of the vistas along our path.
