A day away

This Friday is a holiday for us and that means a day away from work. All week long I have been trying to decide what to do with this freebie day. At first I had contemplated mulching our flower beds. Then I thought about a little spring cleaning.

But it just didn't seem right to use my free day doing chores. I didn't want to slave away on my freebie day. Cynical works during the morning and I can't seem to interest him in a day trip. Queen of Cool unfortunately has to work the entire day, so a day of play with her is not an option.

I fear if I stay home I will find myself cleaning house, folding laundry and catching up on what needs to be done there and that will defeat the purpose.

So, I am still trying to decide how to spend my 8 luscious hours of free time. Any ideas?

In no particular order: go to the movies, read a book, shop for scented lotions and/or candles, blast your stereo and take a bubble bath while reading a magazine or doing a crossword, go to a museum, wander the bookstore, write letters using cute stationary, plan a vacation, take a drive to somewhere cute and look for a yarn store and a smoothie shop, ponder your existance without your pretend friends. :)

Lovely lovely tulips!

Options for free time wonderfulness:
1) Go to a bookstore and get a latte. Sit in a big comfy chair and read a new book. Or flip through gossip or home magazines.

2) Early afternoon movie.

3) I don't really know because I have a hard time filling my free time, myself. Is there a museum nearby? Or shopping you want to do unhindered by a less than enthusiastic counterpart?

Even if you do do cleaning, make sure you do something fun for YOU.

My votes:
*take in a movie Cynical would never go see with you (I love going to the movies solo).

*load up your i pod with good music and go hang out in your "happy place" with a good book, a kite, a bottle of bubbles, and a picnic lunch.

*shop for yarn and something utterly girly like bubble bath or cheap sparkly jewelry or fabulous unsensible shoes.

*begin writing the Great American Novel.

*rent all the sappy tear jerking chick flicks you can handle, grab a box of Kleenex, and settle in for a good cry.

*pace the floor in total boredom until Cynical gets home from work...to be honest, that's probably what I would do. I need help!

One of my fav things to do on 'free' days is take my camera and go to a botanical garden and snap away like crazy. Now that it's spring, and hopefully sunny on Friday for you, that could be a good little adventure. Afterwards, read a magazine (no books today, something frivolous) while enjoying a leisurely lunch, maybe some savory crepes or a fresh spring salad with fruit and candies pecans, then head to your favorite yarn store and instead of buying beautiful yarn, but some exotic knitting needles. If you're in the mood, ask them if you can take pictures of the lucious colors and textures of yarn. Come home and post about your wonderful day. :)
