Good Friday lived up to its name: it was a good day.
I woke up yesterday morning refreshed, just knowing that I had nothing or everything ahead of me. I laid in the very center of the bed, sunshine streaming between the blinds and a cool breeze blowing over me. I wondered if I would ever even leave that very room. However, once Cynical was off to work early, I sauntered down the stairs to figure out exactly how I wanted to spend my time. Over a cup of tea, I realized that where I really wanted to be on my Good Friday was home, where it was quiet, where it was peaceful and where I could truly relax.
Some laundry, some house cleaning, some reading, some breakfast and some nail painting pretty much consumed my morning. (There was a mishap involving dropping the bottle of polish into the tub and making a huge mess, but nothing a little ingenuity and acetone couldn't fix.) My shiny toes and I took a shower and I headed to the yarn shoppe to replace a set of needles that were, shall we say, "taste tested" by Ike. I also picked up some supplies for my One Skein projects. Getting home a little later than I expected, I found Cynical alseep on the freshly made bed. I knitted a bit while he dozed and then finally convinced him that this was not a day to sleep away.
We opted for a road trip to an outlet mall in search of you guessed it: khakis. Seems we can never have enough khakis. Both of us have casual workplaces and it seems that we don the same attire nearly every day. I came home with, yes, khakis, several shirts and some shorts, all sure to make me the best dressed knitting, cat lady on the block.
Our drive was gorgeous as we passed field after field of bright yellow wild mustard and purple clover. It was the kind of trip that made you want to keep driving, to pack up everything you own and keep travelling, just to see where you will end up. It made me want to be a runaway, a hobo. . .
However, reality struck and we made our way back home. We stopped for a visit with Cynical's sister, brother-in-law and little Princess M. Mexican food called, so we coerced them to join us for lots of cheese and salsa.
As for today, there are lots of things we should be doing, instead, I have taken on small projects awaiting me such as updating my knitting photos, doing a little organizing, a little cat hair control, and painting of our antique doorknobs original to the house. I have other plans ahead of me which include some closet cleaning, some reorganization and maybe even a little more knitting.
Like I said, there is a whole lotta nothing going on around here.
Above is my progress on my first sock. I am calling her Apple and posed her with her namesake yesterday since we had wonderful lighting in our kitchen. I actually had two apples, but Cynical ate one before I could shoot the photo.

Darn that Cynical. You just can't leave nice fruit laying around these days without someone coming up and eatting it.
I love the apple warmer! What's the big idea, Cynical? YOu can't just go around eating people's photo props!
Love the khakis your avatar is wearing. She looks very happy!
Happy Easter!
